Due largely to circumstances out of my control, this has been far from the best birthday.
I was initially going to avoid it, but accidentally publicly published the wonderful birthday wishes of rickkanelives (who you should follow) and now the cat’s out of the bag.
Havinghorns did bake a lovely pumpkin pie and got me a camera that I hope I figure out/not break.
I also got this jacket, but not as a birthday present. The Grand Master receives a lot of gifts/care packages and, honestly, nick-knacks on his visitations. He was given this one along with a bunch of other stuff (tie, pins, cheesy fraternal stuff) and he believed himself to be too young to wear it. At 24, I’m the youngest employee of the Grand Lodge. He gave it to me at work and when I pointed out that it was conveniently my birthday, he laughed and recanted the previous story, jokingly saying “That’s what I meant”.
And yes, to the many new followers, if you haven’t figured it out I am a Freemason. (see here, here and here)
It’s truly over the top. The little embroideries say “Worldwide Brotherhood”, “Look To The East”, “AF & AM (Ancient Free & Accepted Masons)”, “3-5-7” (which stands for the 3 Degrees, The 5 Orders of Architecture and the Seven Liberal Arts) as well as various other patches of Squares and Compasses.
Though it’s campy in the most overblown way, I’m surprised to say it fits well. For the back:

So anyway, since the word’s out, thank you all in advance for the Birthday wishes. Here’s to my 24th year on earth. God help it be a better one.
