These Memories Are Fake” - Swimmingpool The Band

“These Memories Are Fake” is another song off of the collection ‘Physical’. The guitars and keys flicker with distortion and harmony. It’s hard for me to decipher each song of mine when they end up this lyrically heavy. I often prefer commenting on my sonic choices rather than thematic. In this, you’re welcome to interpret the lyrics however you’d like. It’s a shot in the dark here (what with them being more personal and all).

I am happy with the textural result of the piece. There’s a crystal quality to the chiming, reverb drenched guitars. The stereo element of two of the rhythm guitars came out particularly well (each one panned to either side).

As is often the case, I play everything on the track (Guitars, voices and keys).

“Don’t leave this room
wait by the phone
someone’s gonna call
when the move is done

and everyone involved
is safe and alone
in their cars
and on their way home

when this job is done
there will be another one
it will be bigger
someday you can  quit

not now
not until the holes are filled
not until you’ve managed
to put the pieces in place

it’s a small wave
crashing on the sand
these memories are echoes
these memories are fake”
