“Heaven” - Swimmingpool The Band

…I had no idea that this song had so many notes attached to it. Thank you for that. If you missed my previous (musical) post, you can download the full album that this song is off of here: http://www.mediafire.com/?htzm12chd74c7w3  …

“Heaven” comes from my most recent collection of songs, “Ghostwater”, and is a bit louder than my recent tracks. The guitars are as shimmery as ever and aesthetically back up the reverb drenched vocals and drums.

In all, I’ve got little to comment on as I think it’s very straight forward. Beyond the guitar and percussion work (that I’m very proud of), I took the time to process the vocals a little bit (especially towards the end as the song builds into walls of reverb, drone and feedback).

The lyrics are below and the link to download is above.

“…no wounds
no bruises
no casts
no bandages

no gause
where we are going
nobody gets hurt
no blood
where we are going
nobody gets hurt

perfect skin
forever
baby you’ll have
the strongest bones

no stretchers
no syringes

only sweet dreams
where nobody
gets hurt
only sweet memories
without cuts
and burns…”

In Flannel” - Swimmingpool The Band

I realize I’ve been posting between two albums as of late. My apologies for that. This song is off of “Ghostwater”.

Sonically it’s far more layered and lush than some of my previous offerings. There are several guitar tracks dancing over keyboards and heavily processed pieces of feedback and drone. I’m quite proud of the way the song paces itself. It ultimately rounds out into a heavily melodramatic and shimmering piece of pop.

I’ll let you decode the lyrical elements to your own liking. They have, obviously, importance to me but I’d rather not sully the experience by divulging their personal origins.

The album art is an original piece done by the ever awesome atlas-bear (who you should be following).

I hope you like it as much as I did writing it. There’s more I could go into, but I’d prefer you fill in the blanks for yourself.

‘…You will take your first breath
as a real man.
Without stuttering.
Without crying.

You will not be overwhelmed
by how big the world is.
You will take it all in
your stride.

Picture change.
Picture how strong you will be
knowing the lows
better than anyone else.

It’s not a competition
but you should treat it like it is.
Lord knows you don’t
want to come in last.

You will take your first steps
on this ugly earth.
You will take your secrets
to the grave.

Nobody has to know
that you were weak once.
Nobody has to know
how close you came.

In flannel
In autumn
why did it have to die?…’

January” - Swimmingpool The Band

Sure to be a seasonal depression classic, “January”, the second song off of ‘Ghostwater’ is a fairly transparent representation of holiday-season existentialism. The, and I’m being self critical here, woeful lyrics are structured around what I hope to be shimmering layers of optimistic drums, guitars and keyboards.

As with my previous songs, I play everything and do all of the vocals.

Since it all reads pretty easily, I’ll sum this up by saying I’m very proud of it. I hope you enjoy it too. As with all of my other songs, it’s completely free to download and share (you’ll find the link to the song above).

“…The year is coming to an end
and I have nothing to show for it.
I have papers. I have bills. I have checks.
I lived everyday safely away from the edge.

Oh, It’s the angst of living
lower-middle-class
and being raised to believe
that nothing ever lasts.

Fear, work, regret and death
are the only real constants.

I want to sleep peacefully.
I want to sleep and not dream.

It’s best to go at it alone
and not drag anyone into your sorted mess.
I tried with all of the blood I have.
I think I tried my best.

I want to sleep peacefully.
I want to sleep and not dream…”

“House On Fire” - Swimmingpool The Band

…before I nod off and go to bed, here’s my latest song. Reverb Drenched and Flickering, it’s all for you. G’night and enjoy

Also, I realized I deleted the original (but forunately reblogged it before hand and saved it). I forgot to mention that some of what you’re hearing comes from some older improvisations made with my lifetime band-mate, Diana, or grigio on tumblr, from earlier the other year.

Thank you so much to those who liked/reblogged it already…

“House on fire” is the first track off of my next album ‘Ghostwater’. It’s texturally a departure from some of the album and a lot of my previous songs. It consists of heavily looped vocals, with keyboards/synth, piano and clarinets layered over them.

It invokes, I hope, something haunted. I wont go into it too much. I love it a lot and I hope you do too. The lyrics are below. The link to download is above.

…Darling, wasn’t this our dream?

To live in a haunted house, on the cliffs, overlooking the sea.

Well everyday, the coastline is shrinking.

While you and me are growing farther apart.

I used to think the dream was ours…

Phantom Touch - Swimmingpool The Band

“Phantom Touch” is a strange piece for me. First off, it’s not off of the album that the last few were (that being blood). The song’s timeliness fits this spooky and semi-depressing late october, so I figured I’d jump ahead and post it now. It’s off of Ghostwater, an album that I’m about half way done with.

Originally guitar driven, I’ve removed almost all of the guitar from this track and left the swirling carousel of reverb drenched keys. My voice is also, fittingly, heavily covered in reverb, which I think is fitting. It’s kind of a love song (well at least half of it is), but you can take it however you want to.

The lyrics are below and the download link is at the top. I hope you enjoy!

“There is no secret code
or language that I can’t
decode with the touch
of your healing hands

And your eyes,
your deep eyes,
charge my heart.
My heavy heart.

Sometimes I feel a phantom touch
tracing my fingers.

I have exhausted all
the good karma I earned.
I never counted the ways
that I left you burned.

In the dark
there is no excuse
for the way I was
or the language I used.

Sometimes I feel a phantom touch
tracing my fingers.”
