“House Of Beauty” - Swimmingpool The Band

…before I nod off, here’s my latest song. I posted it earlier this evening and it’s had a fantastic response so far. Thank you so much to those who have liked, reblogged or downloaded it. I hope that those of you who have not yet heard it enjoy it. This song is for you…

Sometime within the next two weeks, I’ll be uploading one of my recent finished albums. For now, here’s the title track off of the followup to that. “House of Beauty” is the title track of what’s developing into a very large album. The song reflects in its layers of heavy and dense guitars and clarinets.

Something out of the ordinary are my heavily processed (by way of Mogwai) vocals. Take what you will from them. I really hope you enjoy it. The lyrics are below. The download link is above.

‘…The House Of Beauty
the invisible Academy of Love.
A place to live together in peace.
A soft place. A soft touch.

Forever in silk snow.
Forever well.
Forever Marble Cool Halls.
Forever well.
Forever well…’

In Flannel” - Swimmingpool The Band

If by chance you missed it the other night, here’s my most recent song. Thanks, as always, to those who already liked or rebloged it.

I realize I’ve been posting between two albums as of late. My apologies for that. This song is off of “Ghostwater”.

Sonically it’s far more layered and lush than some of my previous offerings. There are several guitar tracks dancing over keyboards and heavily processed pieces of feedback and drone. I’m quite proud of the way the song paces itself. It ultimately rounds out into a heavily melodramatic and shimmering piece of pop.

I’ll let you decode the lyrical elements to your own liking. They have, obviously, importance to me but I’d rather not sully the experience by divulging their personal origins.

The album art is an original piece done by the ever awesome atlas-bear (who you should be following).

I hope you like it as much as I did writing it. There’s more I could go into, but I’d prefer you fill in the blanks for yourself.

‘…You will take your first breath
as a real man.
Without stuttering.
Without crying.

You will not be overwhelmed
by how big the world is.
You will take it all in
your stride.

Picture change.
Picture how strong you will be
knowing the lows
better than anyone else.

It’s not a competition
but you should treat it like it is.
Lord knows you don’t
want to come in last.

You will take your first steps
on this ugly earth.
You will take your secrets
to the grave.

Nobody has to know
that you were weak once.
Nobody has to know
how close you came.

In flannel
In autumn
why did it have to die?…’

Dial L-O-V-E” - Swimmingpool The Band

If for any reason you managed to miss my most recent song (posted the other week), here it is. Thank you so much to those who already liked or rebloged it. It literally warms my heart. Thank you.

As I’m sure many of you have figured out, I rarely write direct love songs. Often they’re coded and semi-modest. Well, considering valentine’s day has recently passed and the birthday of a certain someone (who I wont name if only to avoid embarrassment) is coming up, I figured I’d post this.

I’m skipping ahead in my recently completed discography as this is not on the album that I’ve featured in the last few posts (‘Ghostwater’). It’s the first off of the ‘Ghostwater’ follow-up entitled ‘House Of Beauty’.

As always, I provide all of the vocals and play all of the instruments (largely acoustic guitar and keyboards).

The song itself is structured, crisp and heavily acoustic. It retains many of the staples of my previous tracks (shimmering reverb, keyboards and a coda of drone), but is more cohesive in a good way. It’s almost more directly pop and though the lyrics can be fluffy, they’re also very sincere. I hope you like it. The lyrics are below and the download link is at the top.

…You’ve got a limp when you walk
and you stutter and sigh.
Your bones ache in the cold
and you’re still afraid of the night.

There is nothing out there
but here, my arms are for you.
These arms will work themselves raw
and I’ll do whatever I have to.

Dial L-O-V-E-
Love.
Don’t hang up.
Don’t leave me hung up.

When I have my dips,
or when I stumble and trip,
I know I can count
on your tenderness.

Sometimes I feel
like it’s the only steady thing.
Aside from the nightmares
and the fears in me…

Ghostwater” - Swimmingpool The Band

To break the recent trend of more structured/pop songs, here’s one of my more recent ambient numbers. Instrumentally, it consists of some jingle bells, an autoharp and a melodica. It builds progressively over increasingly distorted/produced layers of the same three instruments, accompanied by some found sounds of an old Haunted House/Halloween Record.

I posted it with my halloween compilation ‘Rabbits’ prior to this posting. It was recorded, however, for the album of the same name (of which my recent tracks, see here: daysrunaway.tumblr.com/tagged/my+music, are also from).

I love the brooding way the song manages to creep over itself. The layers of bass heavy drone, flickering melodica and found sound work effectively (or, at least, I hope they do).

There are no lyrics. The link to the song is above. I hope you enjoy.

“Heaven” - Swimmingpool The Band

…This is the latest of my new songs from my yet to be released album “House of Beauty”. Thank you so much to those who already liked or rebloged it. I am so proud of it and am quite proud to know that many of you like it as well…

“Heaven” comes from my most recent collection of songs, “Ghostwater”, and is a bit louder than my recent tracks. The guitars are as shimmery as ever and aesthetically back up the reverb drenched vocals and drums.

In all, I’ve got little to comment on as I think it’s very straight forward. Beyond the guitar and percussion work (that I’m very proud of), I took the time to process the vocals a little bit (especially towards the end as the song builds into walls of reverb, drone and feedback).

The lyrics are below and the link to download is above.

“…no wounds
no bruises
no casts
no bandages

no gause
where we are going
nobody gets hurt
no blood
where we are going
nobody gets hurt

perfect skin
forever
baby you’ll have
the strongest bones

no stretchers
no syringes

only sweet dreams
where nobody
gets hurt
only sweet memories
without cuts
and burns…”
